The basics
PaddleScramble runs pickleball round robins for 4 to 24 players on iPhone or iPad. Check off who's here, pick your courts, and the app builds the whole session: who partners with whom, which court, and who sits each round. Tap in scores as games finish and the standings keep themselves.
How are matchups chosen?
The scheduler rotates partners so you play with as many different people as possible and against a good mix, while spreading sit-outs evenly. With more players than court spots, everyone sits about the same number of times over the session.
How are standings ranked?
In a session: by average points per game, so a player who sat a round isn't penalized. Ties go to the better average point difference — or to win percentage, if you choose that under Tiebreaker when setting up or during a session. You can finish a session with the standings as-is, a one-game championship between the top players, or a small playoff bracket.
Across a season (Premium): by win percentage, then total wins, then points scored. To be ranked, a player needs three games for each session the club has played, up to ten, so someone who came once can't top the table.
What are the game formats?
- Crazy Eights — new partners every round; the default.
- Open Play Scramble — for drop-in play; add or remove people between rounds.
- Fixed Partner — keep your partner the whole time; pairs are ranked as teams.
- Team Scramble — two teams throughout, decided by a Final Set.
- Pods — split a large group into 2-4 pods, then a cross-pod playoff.
What is Live Share?
Every game you run gets a short code and a link. Anyone can open live.paddlescramble.com in a browser, enter the code, and watch the schedule and standings update live — no app or account needed. Great for a clubhouse TV. Share the QR code from the app to make joining instant. Shared pages expire after 7 days.
Can I print the schedule?
Yes — one tap prints the full session with score boxes, exactly as the app drew it, for the bulletin board or a paper backup.
Someone left mid-session (or showed up late)
In open play, just add or remove them and the upcoming round redraws. In other formats you can mark a player inactive and future rounds are rebuilt around who's still there; scores already played are kept.
Do I need an account or internet?
No account, ever. You can run a whole session with no connection. The internet is used for three things: the Live Share page others follow, your group's season standings page, and a backup copy of your group's history. All three are described in the privacy policy.
My saved players or groups disappeared
Everything is stored on your device, so deleting the app deletes its data. If something looks wrong short of that, force-quit the app and reopen it — and if it persists, email us with what you saw.
