Privacy Policy

The short version: your games live on your own device. The app has no account and no sign-in, shows no ads, and never sells data. A few features use the internet, and this page says exactly what each one sends.

What stays on your device

The players, games, scores, groups, and settings you enter are stored on your device, and deleting the app deletes them. Three things also leave your device: anonymous usage analytics, shared pages (Live Share games and group standings pages), and a backup copy of each saved group's session history. The sections below say exactly what and when.

Anonymous usage analytics

The app sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, so we can tell which features are used — for example, "a game was started" or "a schedule was printed." These signals use a random identifier, are not linked to you, and never include player names or scores. We use them for nothing except improving the app, and they are declared in the app's App Store privacy label.

Live Share — and when it happens on its own

A game's player first names, matchups, and scores are uploaded to our server, so they can be viewed at a web link, in two situations:

• When you tap Share — the obvious one.
• Automatically, without you tapping anything, once three rounds of a session have been fully scored. This happens once per session, so that your group can follow along without the organizer having to remember.

You can turn this off. During a session, open the ••• menu and switch Sessions go on a page off. That one switch covers both the live page above and the group standings page described below — with it off, the app publishes neither on its own. Tapping Share yourself still works, because that is you asking for it. A Test session, or anything started from Quick setup, is never uploaded either way. A session played with No scores is never uploaded automatically, though you can still share it yourself.

Either way, three things to know:

• The page is reachable by anyone who has the short game code, so treat it as public.
• Shared games are deleted automatically after 7 days. If the game was played with a saved group, its link then opens that session on the group's standings page instead.
• When a game is shared, our server records the approximate city the share came from (derived from the network address, never precise location — we never ask for or receive GPS location). We use this only to see where the app is being used, and these records are deleted after 60 days.

A game that never reaches three fully scored rounds, and that you never share, has no Live Share page at all — there is nothing for anyone to view.

Group session history

If you play with a saved group, the app keeps that group's session history — who played, the matchups, and the scores — so features like partner records and season standings work. When a session is recorded, a copy of the group's history is also sent to our server:

• It contains the player first names, matchups, and scores you entered — the same content the app shows on the group's own screens. It is tagged with the same random identifier the analytics use, never with anything that identifies you.
• We keep the most recent copy for each group and the one immediately before it, plus a copy from each device that has synced with that group. The per-device copies are deleted after about 200 days without a sync. The group's own copy is kept indefinitely, including in our backups, so that a future version can help a group recover its history. We use these copies for that recovery, to improve the app, and to understand how it is used. Email us (address below) and we will delete a group's copies.
• The backup itself is never published, sold, or shared with anyone. Each session in it can also be seen on its own page, reached from the group's standings page or from that session's old game link, showing only that session's first names (with a last initial), matchups and scores. The group's standings page is described next.

Group standings page

Every saved group also gets a standings page on the web — the QR code players scan to see the season standings before they leave. Three things to know:

• It is published automatically, and refreshed, whenever you open the final results of a session played with a saved group. You do not have to tap share: the QR code on that screen is already a live page. Switching Sessions go on a page off in the ••• menu stops this too.
• It shows player first names (with a last initial if you entered one), the season standings, session dates, and each player's partners, opponents and match scores — the same content the app shows on the group's own standings screen. It is reachable by anyone who has its short code or link, so treat it as public. Once a session's final results are opened, that session's live game page links to it too, so anyone with the game link can reach it. It is not listed anywhere and asks search engines not to index it, but it is not secret.
• It is deleted after about 200 days without an update.

Your club's name, city and logo

Group details lets you add a club or park name, a city, and a logo. All three are optional, and all three are shown at the top of the group's standings page described above. The name and city are simply what you type. The logo needs more explaining:

• It is a picture you choose from your photo library. The app shrinks it to a small square on your device first, and only that small square is sent to our server.
• It is uploaded the moment you choose it — not when you tap Save — and tapping Cancel afterwards does not take it back. This is so a picture is never lost by closing the sheet, but it does mean that choosing a picture is the moment it leaves your device.
• It is uploaded even if you have "Sessions go on a page" switched off. That switch controls whether the standings page gets published, not whether the picture is stored. With the switch off, the picture is still on our server and still reachable at its own link — it just is not shown on a page.
• That link is reachable by anyone who has it, with no password, so treat the picture as public. It is meant for a crest or a simple graphic. Please do not use a photograph of people.
• We keep it until you remove it. Open Group details and tap Remove logo and it is deleted from our server. Or email us (address below) and we will delete it for you.

Our websites

paddlescramble.com and live.paddlescramble.com count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you or follow you to other websites. Shared game pages also count how many times each one is opened, without recording who opened it.

Update check

On launch the app asks Apple's public App Store service whether a newer version exists. This request goes to Apple and contains no information about you or your games.

Purchases

Any optional purchase in the app is processed entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details — Apple only tells the app that the purchase exists.

What we never do

• No accounts, no sign-in, no passwords.
• No advertising and no tracking across apps or websites.
• No selling or sharing of data with data brokers.
• No precise location — the app never requests it.

Children

The app has no accounts and never asks who anyone is. The personal content it handles is only what the organizer types or chooses: player names — first names or nicknames work fine — and, optionally, a club name, a city and a logo picture. Nothing else about a person is collected. Anything that reaches a group's page can be seen by anyone holding the link, so use first names for children, and do not use a photograph of people as a logo.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. The most significant past changes: in mid-2026 we added the anonymous analytics and Live Share described above, in August 2026 we added the group session history backup and the group standings page, and in September 2026 we added the optional club name, city and logo described above.
